Mechanical Lament

“Through zeal, knowledge is gotten; through lack of zeal, knowledge is lost;
let a man who knows the double path of gain and loss thus place himself that knowledge may grow.” Buddha

Amo amas amat, I learnt a bit of that,
Way way back in the swirly mists of time.
Knew a lad with a Ford Pop'
It's failing engine's weekly swap,
I attended nurse-like, midst the oil and grime.
Ooh! I loved that little car
Though it never got us far,
(Handpainted jauntily, orange and green,)
Brakes frequently on fire,
Oft' put paid to our desire,
But taught mechanics to the lovesick teen.
Nowadays you lift a bonnet, it's a jungle under there,
A complicated, intricate conundrum,
And apart from oil and water
Well I really think I oughta,
Leave it to the garage folk who really know some.
So,
To my latest aquisition,
Took it to the car physician...
The mechanic shook his head...
And straight to my face he said...
To this ex mechanics nurse!...
"Get your seller to reimburse"
Everything's so complicated,
And not always built to last,
I need the simple life or I will drown,
I just hate it when they say,
That they cant help in any way,
Because, inevitably, the ruddy system's down!
